Hemp does not need much water to grow, in fact it uses only 5% of the water used to grow cotton! Climate change and population growth will place incredible strain on our water supply in the not too distant future, we need to come up with water conversation solutions across all industries.
Reduce the strain on landfill by wearing fabrics that last
Keep clothes longer and out of landfill by wearing hemp, one of the strongest and most durable of all natural textile fibres. 100% hemp clothing could last up to 30 years with proper care! Hemp is naturally resistant to mold and ultraviolet light.
Hemp is carbon negative!
This means that hemp absorbs more carbon from that atmosphere than is created by the production and transportation of the crop. The hemp plant absorbs a lot of carbon dioxide, and it’s a very tall and fast growing plant.
It’s good for the soil, too.
Did you know that growing cotton depletes the soil of nutrients? The same can be said of most crops! But not hemp. Hemp can be grown year after year without harming the soil quality, in fact its deep-reaching roots can instead help to nourish the soil.
Free from toxic chemicals
Apparel made from hemp and organic cotton is free from added chemicals that harm human health and that of the environment. Hemp grows densely, leaving no room for competing weeds and it isn’t vulnerable to pests, meaning no need for pesticides!
Warm in winter, cool for summer
Hemp is extremely breathable and absorbent, and perfect for staying cool in summer. The fabric also wins out in winter because of its thermoregularing properties, keeping the body nice and warm during the colder months.
Hemp is the future
We’d love for the garment to be entirely made of hemp but to cut costs we’ve used an organic cotton and hemp blend. By buying hemp products you’re investing in supply chains so that all brands can make your favourite styles in a more sustainable way!
We dream of a world free from plastic clothes
Did you know that clothing made from cheap synthetic fibres such as polyester take hundreds of years to break down? Before then, they shed toxic microplastics that pollute our oceans and end up in the air we breathe and food we eat.
